Hyun Kyung Kim, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Kinesiology at Louisiana
State ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She earned her bachelor’s degree in physical
education from Korea National Sport ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø, and completed her MS in Exercise Science
and PhD in Health Sciences at the ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø of Auckland, New Zealand. Dr. Kim subsequently
held postdoctoral research fellowships at the ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø of Auckland and Iowa State
¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø before joining LSU in August 2022.
Teaching:
KIN3514 Biomechanical Basis of Kinesiology
KIN 7508 Analysis of Human Movement
KIN 7526 Advanced Topics in Biomechanics
Editorial Review Board Member:
Sports Biomechanics (Taylor & Francis), 2022-present
Dr. Kim’s research focuses on musculoskeletal biomechanics, medical imaging, wearable
sensor technologies, and motion capture analysis. Her work emphasizes understanding
muscle morphology, movement patterns, and their relationship to lower-limb injuries
with the broader goal of improving performance and injury prevention through integrated
biomechanical assessment.
