Dr. Lisanne Meiners McCuller is an Associate Professor of Professional Practice and
serves as the Coordinator of Undergraduate Programs in Kinesiology. She received her
bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø in Baton Rouge and continued her
education and training at LSU Health Sciences Center where she completed her Master's,
Doctorate, and Orthopaedic Residency in Physical Therapy.
Her career in academia began in 2007 as an Instructor at the LSU Health Sciences Center
- Program in Physical Therapy where she taught the Orthopaedic and Functional Anatomy
components of the didactic curriculum and served as a Clinical Instructor in the Faculty
Clinic. During that time, she also instituted the first Aquatic Therapy program at
LSUHealth Faculty Clinic, benefitting both orthopaedic and neurologically involved
patients, establishing policies and procedures as well as training Physical Therapists,
Occupational Therapists, and staff.
Dr. McCuller paved the way for post-doctoral specialty training, by creating the first
Physical Therapy Residency Program in the South-Central region of the United States.
She developed the curriculum, wrote the program, and submitted the program application
for accreditation. She coordinated the site visit for the accreditation team and achieved
program accreditation in 2008. She successfully took the program through re-accreditation
in 2014. With the Orthopaedic program firmly established, Wound Management and Neurological
Physical Therapy Residency Programs subsequently followed. These programs continue
to thrive and have led to the development of residency programs throughout the region.
Dr. McCuller moved to an Assistant Professor position and then to Director of Clinical
Education for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at LSU Health Sciences Center
while also serving as the Coordinator of the Orthopaedic Residency Program. In these
roles she participated in data collection and reporting for SACS, CAPTE, and ABPTRFE
accreditations. She served on the Admissions Committee for the DPT program and as
Director of Admissions for the Orthopaedic Residency Program where she managed the
RF-PTCAS for the LSUHealth Residency Programs.
Dr. McCuller created and managed the social media platforms for the LSUHealth School
of Allied Health Professions and Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. She received
Presidential appointment to the American Physical Therapy Association’s Communications
Task Force and was invited to their headquarters in Washington DC to collaborate with
members from across the United States and its territories, to enhance communication
strategies across APTA’s many media campaigns and platforms.
Dr. McCuller has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association
and its Louisiana Chapter since 2005. She has served on its Board of Directors and
on numerous committees, including the Louisiana State Bylaws Committee. She has been
an invited speaker to national and local conferences and has served as a consultant
for developing residency programs.
Dr. McCuller continued her specialty training and clinical practice in Baton Rouge
at Woman’s Hospital and is a Pelvic Health Specialist. She speaks to local groups
about the importance of pelvic health and is an advocate for patients’ rights to proper
peri-partum care.
Dr. McCuller joined the faculty at LSU as Associate Professor of Professional Practice
in 2023. Her courses include Human Anatomy, Biomechanics, Human Anatomy Lab, Medical
Terminology, and Clinical Practicum in Human Movement Science. She is a guest lecturer
in the Rathbone Human Anatomy and Cadaver Lab.
