Biography
Dr. Tyree Mitchell completed his predoctoral fellowship at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø and received his PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from DePaul ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø. His research currently focuses on understanding group and identity processes in organizations. In essence, his research underscores how issues of importance to organizations (e.g., developing leaders, enhancing team effectiveness, managing conflict and intergroup relations) are often issues related to group identity—that is, the sense of self tied to our group memberships.
Dr. Mitchell’s research is associated with millions of dollars in funding from major agencies, such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). His research has been published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Journal of Applied Psychology) and featured in popular press outlets (e.g., Forbes, Harvard Business Review). He has worked on research and consulting projects for several major agencies, such as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). His recent book with ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø of Toronto Press, Searching for Trust in the Global Economy, provides insight into the regional business practices that emerge during the process of deciding to trust potential business partners in different regions of the world.
Dr. Mitchell is an honorary Associate Professor in the School of Psychology at the ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø of Queensland. He currently serves as an Action Editor for Industrial and Organizational Psychology Journal, and as an editorial board member for the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and the Journal of Leadership and Organization Studies. He has also served on review panels for the National Science Foundation.
