Biography
Austin Bomkamp is a Visiting Instructor of Entertainment Lighting and Media at Louisiana
State ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø. He blends theatrical design, engineering, and storytelling to create
dynamic lighting and media experiences.
He holds a BFA from the ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø of Wisconsin–Stevens Point and an MFA from the
¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø of Arkansas. His professional background includes work as a lighting designer,
master electrician, and educator, with credits spanning theater, dance, and immersive
installations. His designs often incorporate emerging technologies such as programmable
lighting systems, projection mapping, and interactive LED elements.
Austin is passionate about mentoring students and emphasizes hands-on learning, professional
workflows, and innovation in storytelling through light and media. He is continually
exploring new techniques that merge traditional stagecraft with evolving technologies
and real-world applications.
