Research Interests

  • Social-Emotional Learning
  • School Mental Health
  • Ethnic Identity/Ethnic-Racial Socialization
  • Social Support
  • Ethnically or Linguistically Minoritized Children and Adolescents

Dr. Choe has established her scholarship on exploring protective factors (i.e., ethnic identity, social supports, an inclusive learning environment) as means to alleviate the impact of risk factors (i.e., adverse childhood experiences, acculturative stress) on children’s and adolescents’ mental health from ethnically or linguistically minoritized backgrounds. Dr. Choe displays a keen interest in the development and evaluation of social-emotional learning programs that are tailored to diverse cultural contexts. Through her meticulous research efforts, her overarching objective is not only to yield theoretical and empirical insights but also to offer practical implications and valuable resources for ethnically or linguistically minoritized children and families.
