LSU Sociology Alumna Carolette Norwood Named President of the DC Sociological Association

One of our alumni is now a full professor and former Chair of Sociology and Criminology at Howard ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø. More recently, she stepped into the role of President of the DC Sociological Association (https://dcsociologicalsociety.org/news/13519357). she knows departments often like to inspire their current students with the success stories of former graduates, so she thought this might be of interest.

Tim Slack wins national award for his book on rural America

Tim Slack and his coauthor Shannon Monnat (Syracuse ¾Å¾Å¸£ÀûÍø) have been recognized with the 2025 Frederick H. Buttel Outstanding Scholarly Achievement Award from the Rural Sociological Society for their book Rural and Small-Town America: Context, Composition, and Complexities (Univ. of California Press).
